Kitchen Hints

Ahh, the kitchen…it can be a place of delight or dread, depending on your love of cooking and baking. For the most part, I find it enjoyable, but always on the lookout for a shortcut or helpful hint. Here are a few I have found useful! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Freezing Stock

Lately, I have been in the habit of making my own chicken stock and wanted better way to freeze it. It occurred to me that using my silicone baking cups would be a good measuring tool. The cups hold approximately 1/4 cup, which makes for easy measuring. Now, I can pull out as many or as little as I need. Don’t mind my dirty looking pan, I like to think of it as well-loved.

Freezing Cookie Dough

I love to bake cookies, but I don’t need them lying around calling my name. For quite some time now, I will make a large batch and freeze the dough. Using a cookie scoop, I portion out the dough onto sheet pans (lined with plastic wrap), pop them in the freezer and bag them. For ease, I always list the oven temperature and baking time on the bag. This way, I don’t need to search for the cookbook.

Kitchen Journal

This adorable pink notebook, began its life as my bullet journal, but sadly I couldn’t keep it up. Now, it has morphed into my recipe/idea book. Whenever I come up with a recipe, I’ll write it down with the approximate measurements. This ensures that the next time I make one of my “creations”, the end result will be consistent. I can’t express how many times I’ve tried to remake something and it not come out right. Writing it down has eliminated the “I’ll remember how much of something I used” syndrome. I won’t show you the inside, it’s a hot mess! Lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

I hope you have will find these tips useful and hopefully, make kitchen life less stressful!
