Every year, I need to make it to the beach at least once. The waves, sun, and a good sea breeze are so relaxing! However, a great day at the beach is only as good as your beach bag. Here are my essentials:
Good Book(s): I love to read, especially on the beach! On a recent trip, I brought this one about Julia Child. I loved watching PBS as a child, so I have fond memories of Julia! Available at Amazon or your fave local bookstore!
Good Magazine(s): I love Martha! She’s a good thing 🙂 Before a vacation, I always like to save my magazines from the mail. This way, I won’t have to pay for one somewhere at those high newsstand prices! And I know we are in the digital age, but I so enjoy reading a physical magazine or book. There is something about holding it and turning the pages that is satisfying to me.
Wet Wipes: Great for sanitizing your hands before eating that beach snack or for when the bathrooms are missing soap! I always keep them in my bag and my car. You can find them most anywhere, so pick your poison. Mine happened to be Target..
Sunscreen: I am vigilant with sunscreen! Sunburns are no fun and I do not want one..I love the Sun Bum brand because of it’s effectiveness and for being cruelty free. I bought this tube at Ulta, but it’s sold many other places. Alba is also a good brand, if no animal testing is important to you.
Small Cooler: Staying hydrated at the beach is pretty important and this Polar Bear cooler will keep your water or other beverages icy cold! I won mine playing the Dirty Santa game one Christmas and use it ALL the time. It’s a great size for the beach.
Zippered Pouch: I like to use a zippered pouch to corral all of my small items (phone, keys, cash, etc.) The one pictured is from my Etsy Shop (shameless plug!) This way, all my valuables aren’t rolling around at the bottom of my bag.
Sunglasses: Protecting your eyes is very important. Be sure to buy sunglasses marked as having 100% UV protection. Because I wear eyeglasses, I bought some nice sunglasses and had prescription lenses added. This way, I can still see! Your eye doctor should be able to add these to most any frame. I bought the ones above at a department store.
Reusable Grocery Bag/Mesh Bag: Designate a bag for trash and all of your seashell treasures. I’ve noticed most public beaches have trash cans along the beach for our convenience. Despite this, unfortunately, people still litter. So sad.
I hope you enjoyed! Happy vacationing!!
